Captain Darren
Meet Captain Darren Charnock – a devoted father to two amazing kids and a true lover of the great outdoors. With over 40 years of water experience, Darren’s passion for boating and fishing runs deep. Raised in Southwest Florida, he was drawn to the water from an early age, spending countless hours exploring the coast even before he could drive.
His professional journey led him to the US Coast Guard, where he dedicated four years to serving on patrol boats, navigating the vast oceans and waterways from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic. Today, Darren divides his time between Matthews and Oak Island, NC.
As a licensed US Coast Guard OUPV Captain with full insurance, Darren prioritizes safety, ensuring a secure and enjoyable boating experience for everyone on board. When he’s not out on the water, you can find him enjoying in his other passions – tinkering with machines and cars and meeting new people.
If you’re looking for a leisurely boat ride, Captain Darren is your go-to guy for an adventure on the water.
First Mate Julie
Meet Julie, the heart of “5 More Minutes” charters. As Captain Darren’s right hand, she manages the website, marketing, reservations, and check-ins, guiding your reservation from booking to boarding. Julie ensures your time on the water is smooth and enjoyable.
Beyond her administrative role, Julie loves the sea. Whether fishing or enjoying the gentle sway of the boat, maritime moments bring her joy. As the owner of “5 More Minutes Vacations,” she creates memorable coastal retreats for Oak Island visitors.
Deckhand Miss Angie
Meet Miss Angie, the silent charmer of 5 More Minutes Charter. With words reserved for crucial moments, she discreetly greets guests with a charming “hi.”
Stationed beside Captain Darren during boat rides, she ensures a smooth boating experience—a true first mate with a wagging tail and doggy charm.
Miss Angie’s hobbies are as impressive as her seafaring skills. A professional sleeper, her nap game rivals the best. When not catching Zs, she’s the queen of toy time, showcasing boundless energy.
What makes her tail wag? The excitement of inspecting Captain Darren’s latest catch. As the fish inspector, she ensures only the finest catches make it on board.
